UNP MP Dr. Jayalath Jayawardena has lodged a complaint with the Human Rights Committee of the Inter-Parliamentary Union regarding the alleged violations of Human Rights of MP Sarath Fonseka.

In a letter addressed to Secretary General of the Union, Anders B. Johnsson, Dr. Jayawardena said that MP Fonseka’s arrest, detention and the subsequent charges filed against him was a clear indication of political victimization.

The UNP MP said that MP Fonseka, the former Army Commander, could not expect justice due to the manner in which the proceedings of the Court Martial were conducted against him.
