United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights Zeid Ra’ad Al Hussein is expected in Sri Lanka early next month and he would lay special focus on IDPs stranded in Puttalam and other areas, said outgoing UN Resident Representative in Sri Lanka Subinay Nandy.

“Among High Commissioner Zeid’s points of focus here would be issues of IDPs stranded in Puttalam and other areas of the country,” he said Nandy made this announcement when the latter called on Commerce and Industry Minister Rishad Badhiudeen yesterday. UN Resident Coordinator Nandy is leaving for his next assisgnment in New York concluding his Colombo stint that began in May 2011.

UN High Commissioner Zeid is to be accompanied to Sri Lanka by outgoing UN Representative in Sri Lanka Subinay Nandy next month.
