The cabinet on Monday approved the National Education Policy 2010 making education free and compulsory up to class VIII for all.
According to the policy, the primary education would be up to class VIII and secondary education up to class XII.
Emerging from the cabinet meeting with Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in chair, PM’s Press Secretary Abul Kalam Azad informed this to reporters at PID conference room in Secretariat.
Religion and moral education will be must for every student up to class VIII, he said.
Besides, the cabinet gave final approvals to the Speedy Trial (amendment) Bill 2010 and National Tourism Policy.
