Stating that the Sri Lankan Tamils issue is not related only to Tamil Nadu, BJP national president Nitin Gadkari on Saturday promised that his party would take up the miseries of Sri Lankan Tamils with the United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHRC).
Presiding over the valedictory of the TN BJP’s ‘Tamarai Yatirai,’Gadkari said, “We always support the demand of Sri Lankan Tamils for getting fundamental rights. They are part of our family,” he added. Observing that the NDA regime under Vajpayee had adopted the correct approach towards the Lankan Tamils issue, he targeted the DMK-Congress combine for ‘furthering their selfish interests in this regard.
Gadkari also said the Sri Lankan government was duty bound to ensure fundamental rights of Tamils. He assured the people of TN the BJP which has 165 MPs would raise the problems of Lankan Tamils in Parliament. (Express Buzz)
