MIRPUR (AJK) – Like rest of both sides of the line of control in Jammu & Kashmir Indian Independence Day was observed as black day in Mirpur on Monday in protest against the continued Indian occupation of Jammu & Kashmir.
The Indian Independence Day is observed every year as black day by Jammu & Kashmir people to mark extreme resentment and indignation against the continued unlawful occupation of Jammu Kashmir state by the Indian tyrannical forces and escalating human rights abuses by the occupying forces in the Held Valley.
India had landed her armed military troops in Srinagar 64 years ago on October 27, 1947.
Major protest rally to observe the black day was taken out from the District Courts premises Monday morning under the auspices of the National Events Organizing Committee with the coordination of various public representative organizations representing various segments of society.
Led by Senior Vice Chairman National Events Organising Committee Raja Saqib Munir, Vice Chairman Amjad Iqbal Chaudhry, Secretary General AH Rao, President District Bar Association Kamran Tariq, President Anjuman-e-Tajran Ch Muhammad Naeem, Secretary General AJK Supreme Court Bar Association Khalid Yousaf Advocate and City unit President PPP Ghulam Rasool Awami, the rally passed through main city streets including Mian Mohammad Road, Allama Iqbal Road and Shaheed Chowk.
Addressing the rally speakers including DBA President Kamran Tariq, President Anjuman-e-Tajran Ch Muhammad Naeem, Secretary General AJK Supreme Court Bar Association Khalid Yousaf and PPP City unit President Ghulam Rasool Awami and others demanded immediate resolution to Kashmir issue through tripartite talks among India, Pakistan and people of Jammu & Kashmir.
Speakers said that Kashmir issue has turned a burning global dispute which was required to be resolved for the emergence of ever-lasting peace in South Asia.
Speakers reiterated full solidarity with the people of occupied Jammu & Kashmir in their just and principled struggle for the freedom of the motherland from Indian yoke.
The rally, through unanimously passed resolutions, called on the international community to get the Indian atrocities stopped in held Kashmir and moved for performing their due role to ensure early grant of right to self-determination to the people of Jammu & Kashmir without further wastage of time.
